Mama Heron flew down from her nest this morning looking for food. She landed on the same flower box on the deck as the woodstork did last week. Mama started out with three chicks but only one survived. The one that is in the nest is quite large now but still no good picture as the nest is very well camouflaged. We went out in the canoe two days ago to try to see the chick from the water side but but he would not cooperate and stayed hunkered down. In any case Marsha went into the house and brought back a hotdog for Mama Heron. No, we do not eat hot dogs for breakfast but keep them to feed the big birds. After she gobbled up the hotdog she went back to the nest and the there were a lot baby clacking sounds. So I'm sure she was feeding junior.
