Around 3000 years BC a small "Henge" was built here (a circle of standing stones.)
Shortly after that the stones were deliberately damaged and this burial mound built over the top.
Representing a rival "Religion" this would have served the local neolithic farming community.
That is a part of Snowdonia in the background, on the North Wales mainland.
