I went out back because there was a seaplane about to takeoff from the lake and there was Buffet our almost tame Great Blue Heron strolling about.

Lovely. You are fortunate to have a heron who will let you get anywhere near him. Around here, they fly away when they see a human appraoching. Or...maybe it's just ME...
