Yes, distarction was a concern somewhat, but moreso, having a 400mm prime lead to little options in framing the shot. I chose this shot over a re-tailed hawk shot because it was kind far away and small. Here's that shot:
I suspect tyhe crop was from necessity Rafi - probably to much distracting detail that need to be cut out. I would agree that in a perfect situation, it would be nice to see the top of the sail and have some free space on the LHS for the board to move into.
