Steve Fink

This is a Common Grackle (I believe). It is blue jay sized with a long wedge-shaped tail display a longitudinal ridge or keel when in flight. It appears black at a distance but is actually highly iridescent, with colors varying from blue to purple to green to bronze, depending on the light. It has bright yellow eyes. It can be found on lawns parks, field and open woodlands.

Yep, and never call it "Common' either. It is a covus and you know how they get. You forgot to mention how noisey they are. Heavens! I like the color range you captured there. I can see the bronze and the black and green. Well done! A vote.
