Wow, it's not easy getting close to these guys. Interesting contrast between the soft and subtly colored plummage and his head. Great shot!

Wow! Ugly bird beautifully captured. These birds go head first into the depths of carcasses to feed off of the innards. Head feathers would be useless to say the least.

Great image ... is there a reason why vultures have plumage-free heads?

I think he looks good. As I look around at some of my old friends, we would be blessed to look so good.

Nice portrait of the vulture. Great job on the exposure. The combination of colors (black and red with some white around the eye and on the beak) is very striking.

this is wonderful Janet--we saw some turkey vultures in Sedona but never close enough to manage a shot. dawn

Another beauty Janet, but then again, you're the lady who makes starlings look good. Well done.

I know some guys with about that much hair (and that many wrinkles, too!!) :-)
Great shot!

Wow maybe not pretty bird but what a great image of him!

But I bet he has a great personality...
Wow, Janet! This is the closest I have ever seen one of these homely creatures.
Lisa 18-Jul-2011 14:03
Perhaps not attractive by our standards, but he does look quite clean and sharp.

Cool! Not an easy bird to catch so close. Great job on the exposure.

Well...um...he's not the dreamiest lad I've ever seen, LOL...but a great shot, Janet!
