I have the Sigma Zoom Telephoto 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DL Macro Super Autofocus Lens for Nikon AF-D. It performs especially well at the macro level. It's a great zoom and I've had some excellent results shooting fast-moving wildlife. Here's what the manufacturer had to say about it: "Sigma's 70-300mm f4-5.6 DL Macro Super is one of several new tele zoom lenses. It is a compact Tele-Macro Zoom lens, capable of focusing down to 1:2 (half life-size) reproduction ratio at 300mm focal length, with superb optical quality. A detachable bayonet hood is provided. The lens materials used in this new product are lead and arsenic free ecological glass, including one Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass element."

I'm looking at this lens for the second time for a 350D. I had an obviously older version of the 70-300 APO lens on a Minolta 400 si back in 1993. I have taken numerous wildlife, landscape and sports pictures with this lens and I think it provides amazing quality for the money. I have the option of spending 3-4 times what this lens costs, but I think I'll stick with its proven ability.

Just an hour or so ago, I ordered the APO macro super II (yada, yada) version of this lens. I've been aprehensive about that purchase and it represented a serious compromise between desires and finances.
It's good to see such results from the DL version and gives me hope.
Oh yea...minor credits to the photographer. Seriously, all very nicely done. I love the mccaws.

Thank you very much for posting this gallery. I recently took the plunge into the dslr world with the purchase of a Canon Rebel XT (350D). When I bought the camera I bought the kit which included an 18-55mm lens, and also purchased a 50mm f1.8. Now I am in need of a zoom lens, and have looked at photo samples til I am blue in the face! I think I have now decided to purcahse this lens. Thanks again! ~Sandy Howell, Michigan
