Wood Frog on Ice - Lithobates sylvaticus

Kittatinny Valley State Park, NJ

As mentioned earlier, Wood Frogs are very cold tolerant. I am still not sure how they manage to sit like this on solid ice without freezing to it.

They have glycoproteins (on their skin) enriched with carbohydrates that change the freezing point of water. Awesome picture!
