On my last morning at Varanasi I explored the narrow streets behind the ghats at Assi Ghat. As well as a temple with a large step well and a lively monkey popular, small guesthouses and many crumbly old buildings, large and small, I saw the local vegetable pedlar pushing his cart through the streets.
