Hi Cathryn, Lovely photos of Ipoh very close to where I used to live. The "back alley Chinatown" is actually an alley, but is also the front (and only) access to those houses. That particular alley was called "3rd wife alley" - all the houses in that alley was at one time owned by a tycoon and given to his 3rd wife. The interior of those houses were very dark - one of my aunt's family used to live in one of them. The last time I was there I noticed that the whole alley is almost abandoned and uninhabited.
