This isn't a terrific image, more of a record shot, but it was a terrific find! I was shooting shorebirds at the Montezuma Wildlife Refuge and I spotted a strange shape way out. I moved the car in closer and looked with my 500 mm lens and saw a peregrine falcon! I was using a 500mm lens with the1.7 converter and on crop with my Nikon D2x and it was still pretty small. This shot is cropped down to 1mb so it's pretty tiny. I've seen them on the high buildings where they nest in Syracuse, but this one was on my level. It made an exciting end to my day! I just wish it had been closer.
