I had been photographing ducks at The Montezuma Wildlife Refuge when I looked farther ahead and spotted the Sandhill Cranes. I quickly drove down to where they were and one was dancing though very briefly. They were right next to the road and I got to photograph them for 10 minutes or so. They spent a lot of time preening and then digging in the mud. Finally they flew away. I haven't been close to any cranes in years. This experience made my day? I'll be posting more pictures of them.
