35 Reef Balls, Bell Shoals

This is one of the sites in Bell Shoals with 35 reef balls. Prior to Hurricane Alex, we had great visibility in the mornings. We could easily see the 25' bottom from our boat.

Wonderfully good shots. This was in only 25 ft of water? That's almost (not quite) snorkeling depth for me. I am surprised the balls this shallow were not buried by sand during Gulf storms. I have seen these balls in Curacao and Grand Cayman and was not very impressed by them (hardly any coral was growing and they weren't attracting much life except for sergeant majors), but I think they would do the trick in the n. Gulf of Mexico where almost any structure attracts tons of fish.
