With a size of up to 43cm this is the second largest woodpecker in Thailand (after Great Slaty).
It was one of my target species for this 5-day trip to Naam Nao and just 10 minutes before we were about to pack and leave it showed up. Didn't get any good picture but it was a great sight anyway. I have never seen such a large woodpecker before.
Seen at the beginning of the 14km trail (about 1 km into the trail)
