Day 2 and 3 provided a chance to practice my riding skills in the rain. It has been raining for most of the last 1,000 miles while traveling through 5 states. There isn’t much to take pictures of except the rain. Included below are just such pictures, some of the rain coming, some of the rain going.

I am currently sitting in North Dakota and have hopes of making better time to Montana in day 4. The going is slower then planned since I am keeping it around 60 MPH in the rain. I finally broke out of the storms for a while in Minnesota but then picked up a 25 MPH head wind that knocked my gas mileage from an average of 42 in the rain to 29 heading into the wind. Of course the rain and wind both kicked in when I reached North Dakota.

Then you get the questions from people such as “is it wet riding a motorcycle?” They just look at you funny when you remind them that it’s RAIN… it’s suppose to be wet. Then you explain how a rain suit keeps out the rain and it’s not all that bad as long as you pay attention for splashes from passing trucks and cars.

Well there is always hope of tomorrow bringing sunshine.
