This poor stray was found dead due to poor health and most probably from shock! when it accidentally encountered
a street dog around 5:30 pm on April 31, 2008.
I named this new stray Sonja, after the cartoon character's pretty Persian cat girlfriend. Oh ok, maybe this little kitty is nowhere near
nor as elegant-looking as its namesake, but it came to our lives very much like how Garfield (the pet!) once came into out lives.
One hot Saturday morning on November 24, 2007, we found this feisty 2 1/2 to 3 month-old little kitty determined to get inside the driveway -
nevermind the incessant angry barking of pet dogs Berto https://pbase.com/carinoza/berto and Butete https://pbase.com/carinoza/butete straight at its face! Before a possible bloodbath may ensue, we placed it at the backyard where the other stray pet cats hang out as this
obviously abandoned-by-its-mom kitty could use the company.
Today she feels at home and Garfield's sibling who recently gave birth allows Sonja to suckle along with its own. By now she is able
to eat solid food ...
The name has evolved, as we now fondly nickname this little furball Sonjaya (a tribute to Willie Hung's "American Idol" 'hair' apparent?). :-)
