"La Maison du Roi" (dates back to the 13th century).
This house was used as a store by the bankers. In the centuries to come this much altered and damaged building became a temporary
State jailhouse, a tax office or Ducal House by the Duke of Brabant, and a Public House after the French invasion.
The foreign governors, exercising certain royal functions there, wrongly called it the "House of the King"
despite the fact that no King lived there. It is still popularly known by that name today.
