This is Chip.
He lives in the stone wall, strategically located six feet from our strawberry patch.
From this impregnable fortress he executes daring and brazen raids, often in broad daylight.
Boldly he races across the open lawn to tunnel under the bird netting, helping himself to the ripest and juiciest berries.
He then retreats to his castle with his plunder, only to emerge seconds later on a high turret
where he conducts a feast worthy of a king.
He is a cheeky pest indeed, but we've grown to love him and admire his pluck.
