Very Hush-Hush

In December 1965, the Moctobi departed Pearl towing a coupla bright orange rafts, and headed for Kingman Reef, which is very near the middle of nowhere in the Pacific Ocean. On board with us was an Air Force staff sergeant and a civilian representative of Sandia Corp. Jack Halliday, the Sandia rep was a ham radio operator, and was allowed to bring his personal ham gear aboard. It was installed in the radio shack and an antenna was hastily welded to a rail on the signal bridge. (I actually got to use his gear, and had a nice conversation one night with Little America Base in Antarctica.) Mission was still very hush-hush.
