One of the Dutch re-enactors who was on the trip stated that the Dutch M1's are in .30-06. There may be some confusion caused by the fact that two or three of these cases are the shorter US military red tipped blanks, while the rest feature the crimped tip and are longer. These I believe, are made by either FN or the Israelis

This brass does not look like 7.62mm. The Dutch re-enactors had blank firing M1's and it was they who left this brass. Certainly looks like .30-06, but I do not know how their M1's are chambered.

a brilliant touch, O.K. so they are M60 blank rounds, but who else would put spent brass on a peep floor !
