Jules - Scotland - 1993

I am making a wild guess with the date and place for this, placing it on our first trip to Scotland in Feb 1993. But though the scan is poor quaity I can't make out a hole in Jules' cheek. If it is that trip I'm guessing it's in Great Gully. But, given the missing hole, It could just as easily be the lakes in Nov of the same year. In which case it will be somewhere just before stridng edge.

I think you are right - it all fits. In that case this must be very close to where we were nordic skiing a few years back

I'm pretty sure this is my first day winter mountaineering. It's definitely Scotland because I'm wearing my big rucksack. In fact I remember the streams under the snow - this was on the plateau in front of the gully we were soon to ascend. I haven't got a hole in my cheek yet... I got that on the way down! This was such a great day. We've never had snow as good as that week. I remember stopping half way up the gulley and looking down through my legs. Because of the icy crust, only the front points were in giving a secure though very exposed feeling. I'm glad I had my nice new axes rather than that little hammer of yours.
