This is one place to go to for memorable views of the city. Built under Emperor Justinian in 528,
the Galata tower was owned by the Genoese in the 13th century, but was captured by
the Turks in 1453 when they conquered Byzantium.
For even more breath-taking views, though, go to bar / restaurant on top
of the Marmara Pera hotel.
