Hi Chris,
Nice to hear of your interest in my stuff..
and to take the time for experiments too!
Your version really does bring the focus
onto the boy....strongly so!
I think the capture suits the conversion..
because mainly the excessive noise and shutter speed "dilutes"
the quality and potentially rich colour of the water.
Generally I tend to go with b&w when the scene
has that sense of timelessness
which for me often means a rugged unrefined "look".
Maybe the b&w takes away the balance I wanted
with a secondary subject back there.
But like I said I don't think it worked out well for me
hence I find your reworking of the image good.
Interesting to see the comparison..thanks!
Bruce

Bruce - as I often do, I was browsing through your pictures and found the one of the little boy in the mosque holding his head on his hand. I wondered that given the moving emphasis on the boy, and his hand - if it would be "better" in b/w. So I gave it a shot and would like to know what you think. the pic is here
Kindest regards,
Chris

This is also excellent, the offset composition is perfect. The background looks great with the slightly shallow dof, though not too shallow. It definatley adds to this image to see the background figure to a certain degree.
