Eastern Hognose playing dead

These are actually my son's images, taken with his K100D. The Eastern Hognose isn't seen too often around here, but can be found out and about in the spring when toads, it's primary source of food, are mating and plentiful. This one appears to have recently dined. Puffing up and playing dead are two of it's defense behaviors. Great shots by Chris taken at Hueston Woods near Oxford, Ohio.
