The Rambles
Red-tailed Hawk (Immature)
Wandering the park for some photo opportunities, it was incredible how many people were
in the park, no less the Rambles, on New Year's day. Passing my favorite spot, there were
three bird watchers feeding the Cardinals, Chickadees, and Tufted Titmouses (Titmice? heh).
Seemingly from nowhere a crowd of binoculars was observing something in the nearby underbrush.
Not being able to spy the object of interest, I started to query one of the observers when a
Red-tailed Hawk flew from the underbrush to a more visible location.
The dozen or so observers became a gathering.
Aside from the opportunity that presented itself while I had the appropriate camera/lens combo
at hand, what was also exciting was to see the other wildlife (birds, squirrels) that were
attentive but not phased by the presence of the hawk. They went about their business in
very close proximity. Heck, we were ALL in close proximity.
