Pine Grosbeaks are the largest of the 'winter finches' which also include Evening Grosbeak, Red & White-winged Crossbill, Common & Hoary Redpoll, Pine Siskin and Purple Finch. These species are normally found year-round in the boreal forests, but in winter may move south in search of food.
