The 36 inch Refractor Telescope at Lick Observatories

A massive telescope first used at the Lick Observatories in 1887.
It still in use for scientific observing.

Me and my friend visited the Observatories at the top of Mount Hamilton to
check out the views for next weekends Aurigid meteor shower.

Our host at the Observatories gave us a tour of this telescope and the
views at several other domes at this University of California learning institution.

Awesome heavy equip, Makes our lenses look useless ;-) Great shot. Love the lines and geometry at work here.

In 1994 I was with the Antique Telescope Society on a visit to Lick. We got to look at several objects; Saturn, M-15, M57, and a few others, with the 36 inch. It was just superb. I do have a Clark of my own though:http://www.pbase.com/dan_123/image/44941360
