Burrowing Owl at the Sunnyvale Baylands

It's been awhile since I've seen these little critters at the Baylands so its
a special treat to capture it with the camera.

Taken in the early morning light, so I brought my hiking/monopod along.

I just moved from a mega suburb that's known for their burrowing owl population; there's a WalMart going up right next to nest... which is right on the edge of the street. When I lived in a rental there I had a burrowing owl that would sit on the windowsill to look for food in the grass and stay out of sight of the hawks that flew around looking for burrowing owls...
really nice photo...did you crop? or were you that close?

The cropping to show the habitat is excellent. Nice capture.
