I love Robins... both the Mom and Dad build the nest and take care of the babies. Then while Mom is building her second nest, Dad takes over the care of the first and teaches them to fly. Their weight causes the babies to have to make it 2-3 days on the ground while learning to fly. By the time the second brood is hatched, Dad and siblings help Mom take care of that bunch too. Here in the south, Robins live year-round and stay in their territory. So the Robins you see outside today, will be the same or a descendant of the Robin you'll see tomorrow. They "live" at your house just like you do!

Another nest of robins this year in the same location as last year. Threes eggs hatched about April 27. They are now huge and nearly ready to leave the nest. Lots of rain means lots of worms. Momma doesn't have to look very hard for them.

Each year an American Robin builds a nest in my wreath that hangs on my front door. My grandkids and I have enjoyed watching for the past several weeks the laying of three blue baby eggs, they hatched on Thursday and as we watch the babies be fed they are amazed.
