Phillip poses with his prized catch of a permit with Capt. Jim Hobales. We saw this permit and a few others "tailing" on a shallow water flat. After coming as close as we dared with the boat, Phillip cast a small live crab to him. After each of the first few casts, the permit would pop up several feet from where he had been. Then, just when we thought we were about out of luck, the permit grabbed the crab and it was on!

This one was on the smaller end of the range for permits, but it makes no difference to us. The first Jefferis family permit was in the boat and on film!
