The following shots are from a trip with Squid to Port O'Connor a few weeks before the East Flats trip. We wanted to catch a tarpon, primarily, but jacks would certainly do.

Here Squid is hooked up on a heavy rod to a monster. However, we shortly found out that it was a manta ray(!) and not a jack. The ray had to be 8-10 feet across his wings and probably never knew that Squid was pulling on him. After getting Squid fully warmed up, or exhausted, after 20 minutes or so, our guide Curtiss grabbed the line and let the big guy go.
