John checking on the milk and conversing with Ted who loaned John a generator to power the milking equipment. The generator is running behind Ted's tractor. After the worst thunder storm and flash-flooding in "living memory" the power was out over night and into the morning. Not long after the cows were milked the power was restored.
Later John and I spent some time exploring the ruins of Kirkham Priory. It was founded by Augustinian monks in about 1120. We spent so much time there that we had to put off visiting the City of York until after the cows were milked again and we had dinner. Then Jayne proposed a trip into the town for a "ghost walk," (photos HEREwhich I gladly accepted. We had a beer in town and then joined the walk. It was a perfect night to wander the streets listening to exaggerated tales of ghosts and horrible deaths. Well, the deaths and the awful ways they were brought on were real. We didn't see any ghosts though.
