The world was given to us to be free. Free to use, free to travel, free to live where ever you like to.
This is the result of all what humans created to make it difficult and sometimes even impossible ; money, property, boundaries, papers. If humans where sharing there resources in a honnest and equal way, this would all not be needed.
Those images speak for themselves and this one is very outstanding. Thanks for posting this, Mark.
The money for extra security at inaugurals has always come from a special allocation from Congress. This is the first time it hasn't. President Bush said the city should take the money from its Homeland Security funds--the funds to have the hospitals ready to handle a major terrorist strike on the city, and police and firefighters to be equipped for a chemical, biological or nuclear terrorist incident. So $11.2 million has gone to this and much, much more police who stood the parade route and guarded the balls, etc. I think the city is still trying to get Congress to cover it.
Where all that money that the Clinton administration made available for more police on the streets went.... sadly.
And, the photo is beautifully composed.
For openers, let me say I am delighted you posted this gallery. I find it well worth the time paging through it (and getting JHR's commentary thrown in too). I was hoping you'd do this series, so thank you.
This shot is one of my 'favorites.' It tells the story well and is a bit scary too.
