Hmmm...maybe I should have declared yesterday my last PotD posting. Quit while I was ahead. These arty pandas are all around the city. A few years ago it was elephants and donkeys to represent the Republican and Democratic parties. Now it's pandas, for the new baby panda at the zoo? Anything to try to attract or amuse tourists. It's also "public art." So does this bear make any sense outisde the Shakespeare Library? Previously this corner hosted a donkey in medieval armor. That seemed a more appropriate placement. This looks like it belongs outside the Freer Gallery of Art,the mountains could have come from a Japanese screen.

I've got to come down to visit DC just to get more of these pandas! I only managed to capture about 5 or 6 of them. I want them ALL!

Yup...I guess you're home; Manistique, MI has painted up moose all over the place.

What a change from SF. From the country and JHR to this. Kind of crazy scene that you caught. Strange juxtaposition.

I feel maudlin . . I had nothing to do with your trip to SF but I am sad that it is over =[

Reminds me of "A Midsummer Night's Dream". My parents have driven far and wide to take photos of these kinds of things. They got Jayhawks in Kansas, Cows in Missouri, Indy cars in Indianapolis....

Very much a case of the ridiculous and the sublime. But I think Willie Shakespeare had a sense of humour too!
