July 29, 2004

My last day in San Francisco. Jeanne had her idea for a PAD, but I was, as usual, stumped. (I didn't want to copy hers.) She suggested a photo of her and Morticia under "the lights." So while getting things set up I took this, and though she likes the one of her and Morticia (HERE in my sftrip gallery), I preferred this one. After a week of making Jeanne look a bit stretched in the face with the 12mm at close range, I thought I owed her a reasonably nice "portrait."

Thanks to all who have visited my trip gallery. There have been far more hits than I had expected. I've added a few photos from the flight out, in addition to Jeanne and Morticia, so take one last look. http://www.pbase.com/brother_mark/sftrip

Thanks for hosting me Jeanne.

Hi Mark - I've missed this one 4 some reason. Browsing Pbase looking at 12-24mm photos. I have to say there are some pretty uninspiring shots taken with that lens then one of your shots popped up from when you went to SF. To me quite a few of your shots sum up what this lens does best - which I hope you take as a compliment as it's meant. I know I teased the other day about you sending me shots via email but it was your shots with that lens that really made my mind up about the Nikon 12-24. I looked as others work and felt that maybe the best was not being got out that lens? Well done mate ... really!! I've looked back at them this morning and they are really very good. Of course I do realize this shot was taken with said lens!! It's just a very nice shot of Jeanne using the 50mm ... now how much is that lens {lol} All the best Mark!

This is a truly wonderful portrait! Beautifully composed and lit, and Jeanne looks positively radiant. Wow! (OK, now -- was she wearing that lacy thing when you took this?)

Lets hear it for the f/1.8 50mm "portrait" lens. It and you did a very nice job, and to my amazement it looks like JHR even behaved for a few minutes allowing us to bask in her beauty. You did good this week Bro-Mark...hope you have an easy trip back to DC and not too much culture shock.

I have never seen a brother and sister take so many pictures of each other. I think it is great that you two enjoy this!!

Very nice portrait!

Thanks for the reasonable portrait, Mark! I was looking a bit goofy in some of those 12mm shots... I fdo like this one. You did way better with the light than I did! I need to dump that 24-85mm lens, I think!! (Blame it on the lens, yea right.....)

I agree, this is the best one. The most flattering and it shows just how beautiful she really is. Love the way you set the lights up -- the dual catchlights really make her eyes sparkle. The composition is great and her pose shows that "California Casual" air she has about her.

You've done beautifully by your sister, Mark. Very nice portrait.. excellent in fact. I like the one with kitty, but this is best.
