Waiting to pay their respects to Ronald Reagan. For some, it's just waiting to see "history." It's very odd really. From here the wait was probably two hours. You can see about seven rows of back and forth walking, about two-thirds the length of the reflecting pool. From Third St., it's about 4 hours. The "end" of the line was at Fifth St., which doesn't actually run through the Mall. The wait from there was estimated at 8 hours, that was at 10:25pm. There were people with strollers and children under 4 wandering through the lines back there. Of course, you've probably seen this on the news and know more about it than I do. News trucks are lined up along Jefferson Blvd.

Interesting shot, Mark. Did you go, too?

A special opportunity living in DC to be able to photograph "moments" such as these. Well done.

I would have liked to have been there. If it wasn't for Rebecca, we probably would have gone. The kids are pretty good at that sort of stuff. We used to wait for hours for reenactments to begin. At least in DC the people were pretty much in motion for much of the time. Just something about the patriotism of the whole thing.....

Funny how when people die they are forgiven for all the "less than positive" things they did.... I wonder if RR would have had a better life had he not cut spending on Alzheimer's research early in his presidency?

I'm amazed at all the outpouring. It is like the country needs a hero now and to admire someone who is more genuine and who was so positive.
I wasn't a big Reagan fan, yet I join America today as we mark his passing.

I know I certainly couldn't imagine myself waiting in a line like that for 8 hours in the middle of the night. And with a small child in a stroller? Well, maybe they figure the child would sleep? I know mine never would have.
