Our leaders don't much ride horses today, but Ronald Reagan did. I wonder if these boots are his. (I haven't watched the TV news so I don't know.) An alternative for today can be seen HERE. This image cropped only to 4:5 ratio can be seen HERE.

Mark, what a great shot. President Reagan, as you know, was my president, the last president that I voted FOR. I miss him and believe our country misses him. Thank you for a wonderful picture of that memorable week.

Reagan was a great man - I had alot of respect for him. Yes Mark, they were his boots according to our National News reports.

Mark, this is an awesome photo. We were hoping that you would be there for the events. I wish I could be there to see everything. The channel we watched talked about how the boots were his, and they talked to the security guy who went riding with President Reagan every day during his retirement, and he was the one who had to tell the President that he was making too many mistakes and it was no longer safe for him to go riding. That still makes me cry. How hard it must have been to hear that you can no longer do what you love. Thank you for sharing your photos Mark.

...Thanks to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis fo reviving presidential funerial ritual...these boots look like polo boots, not the boots the "cowboy" Reagan wore.

Mark, I've been following all your photos and was hoping you would see the funeral. This is a wonderful shot and you have such a piece of history in your photos. Your photos have made us want to make a trip to Washington. Excellent.

OH WOW you captured this!! I was reading about the funeral procession and how he wanted a riderless black horse to follow with the boots turned in the stirrups. Nice shot Mark with tons of impact!!

I was watching the coverage today, and just knew I would see a photo from you!... This is very cool!... Had a patient today tell me that a good friend of hers donated the horses that pulled the casket through DC.... that is their only job.... to be ready for these types of functions...!
