"My Mamiya!"

This poor camera doesn't get much use anymore. Last time it saw action was June 2003 for a First Communion class photo. I really like the big negative, the large view finder and the proportions of the film, not as long and narrow as 35mm or most DSLRs. When I get a DSLR, the 35mm cameras may go, but this one's a keeper...til it needs major repairs again. :)

Great shot.
I've always been interesting in medium format.

Man! I wish I could do b&w like this. You give me something to shoot for.

Thank you all. Glad you like it.

Medium format, Lara, 6cm x 4.5cm. Angela, I adapted very quickly to the 6x4.5 ratio. It was nice to have more width to it for portraits. I've always wanted to play with a Hasselblad. I love the square format. (I was pricing them last spring/summer used...I think it was about $4,000 for two lens and two backs and a body--USED! Does make digital seem cheap!) There's something visually appealing to me about well-composed square images, just look at Elizabeth Glass's gallery. And you make good use of the 3:2 ratio.

medium or large format?

Well I'm just sitting here drooling. I keep toying with the idea of buying one of these for portraits, but I haven't done it yet. Man I'd love to though. Funny how you mention aspect ratio... I'm so comfortable with the 3:2 of 35mm and digital SLR's that I feel clumsy when I shoot with say a digi that has a 4:3 ratio; I'm sure it would take me a while to get used to the 6x4.5 of one of these, but boy it'd be fun trying! ;) Great shot for B&W -- angela :)

Nice composition. I like pictures of cameras for some reason.

I don't own any cameras but a couple of very boring point-and-shoots and my 5700... I'm sure when I'm an old lady I'll be taking pictures of the 5700 since I could never bear to part with it... I'm in love with it.

I'd hang on to that one, too. I kind of miss all my old cameras that I gave away or sold over the years. But if I had one of those, I would keep it for sure.

Funny Mark, because my 35mm kit is going at the weekend. Thought about it for a while and not got a DSLR ..... yet!! It's just sat in the cupboard doing nothing.

Nice shot of your camera - good close up and make a very good B&W - well done!!

Showing off your cool stuff!! Great angle and I like the little film boxes behind it!
