I think that another good point, Chris. I hadn't thought about it that way. Thanks. Somehow it just didn't seem right to cut out the corner.

The colour tones are beautiful, they are that little bit subdued that but crystal clear.
Excellent framing. I think the stone corner needs to be there to explain the shadow.

This church looks very European.

Very nice building first off and a good sky. As to the building on the left then I'm not so sure? As you asked and I've 'paper' cropped it then I have to go with Jeanne in that I'd crop the building to the left? Sorry Mark - still a good photo of the church though :))

What a beautiful piece of architecture. Love that dramatic sky!! -- angela:)

Thanks. I like the sky too and took some that had more sky and less foreground. In the end I preferred this one with the grasses in the foreground. I think it is the lighting in general that is important here. The same sky with the steeple in shade lacks impact. I left the building in as a frame and foreground object to convey some depth. Also, to keep this church in some way in its context. This is one of those typical Washington, white-stone monumental buildings and there's this old brick church behind it. Other opinions on that compositional element?

I like this one Mark, the sky is great, and those yellowish bushes are a fantastic color! I would have cropped the edge of that building on the left though. It really doesn't go here, the focus is the church!

Wow, that's the first time I've made a suggestion on your photos. That was fun!

Looks very much like a 50's postcard. It's the sky that makes the picture.

Nice. I like the different colors of the sky.

Great background shot if the sky.
