January 17, 2004

This weekend was a "work" weekend for me. My mom came down for a "visit" and we worked on painting my bedroom. First we scrapped and sanded and spackled the ceiling. It was a mess. Concrete and plaster covered with some poor paint jobs and many cracks. We worked without removing any major furniture from the bedroom, hence my computer was unavailable--sealed in plastic from the dust. After sealer, and two coats of ultra white paint the ceiling was finished on Sunday. Finally, we got to the "fun" part which was painting one wall and the entrance of the room "Caraway" green. (Click here for Mom scraping the ceiling. My paint prep tools "still life."

After cleaning up we had fun watching a university ice hockey game. Alas, I shot film so you'll have to wait for the results. The girls(!) played pretty aggressively and the home team was up 9-2 at the half when I left--out of film and satisfied that we couldn't possibly lose.

Fabulous! Really like the dramatic light falling across them - and that dark background. Well done, Mark! :>

This one Mark - the light's a lot better. Just warn your mom about those 'lights' her daughter has in SF - when she goes to visit her!! ~ John

Neat usage of light!

Glad to see you had a good excuse to miss your posting! :) I like this shot the best. Without the background I was really wondering what was up with the masks.

You both look like you'll be glad when you've had enough of that decorating! I'm interested to know more about the 'spackled' finish you've been applying to the ceiling, something I've not heard of here in the UK, I can only imagine it's some kind of textured finish similar to what we call 'Artex'.

Oh, decorating, don't you just love it?! I don't mind the painting so much - it's the making good that I hate!
Nice lighting effect on this one - I like the way you stand out agianst the black background.
