January 16, 2004

On the way home from I work I decided to stop in the Whole Foods grocery and get some apples. I also liked the strawberries. Turns out they aren't sweet enough for me. The smaller ones are better, but they didn't have any of them.

While shooting this I discovered that the camera does have a manual daylight setting!! Well, I guess I should have read the manual. Now I can under- or over-expose in bright sun. It also has a custom white balance setting, but for the strawberries it was too green.

Ooh, strawberries - my favourite!! I like the ripe colour of these - they almost look the same colour as raspberries!

Nice rich color here.

I like it - it's a bit more of an unusual composition than many of the strawberry shots I've seen. The softness of the image makes the strawberries look very ripe - almost jammy

Very impressive Mark, great detail and colour.

The picture looks a bit blurred to me. At 2 seconds, your shutter release is probably what did it. The overall picture is very well done. I like the wider DOF that concentrates on the reds. The black background is a great choice also.

They look very tempting, but I'm used to seeing slightly lighter coloured strawberries over here. Glad you are finding new gizmos on your Nikon. All you need now are a couple of lights and a model;-)
I took me ages to find some of mine on the old Fuji, and now I'm having to learn all that on my new one!
