To achieve form, the lines of the Parthenon building were
carved to counteract optical illusions, (in the same manner
as the Mayan indians did at Chichen Itza in Mexico, see pics
of Mexico). The base curves upwards towards the top, and the
columns become sligthly narrower at the top, giving an
impression of straight lines from top to bottom.
