Alhambra was a defence fortress from the 9th century. The Nasrids turned
it into a fortress-palace in the 13th and 14th centuries. Yousouf I built
the Palazio Nazares and Mohammed V was responsible for much of
the palace's decoration. THis view is of Palacio Carlos V, the dominant
Christian building in Alhambra, built in 1527.
