31st May

OK, I'm playing catch up for a while as I've just come back from Belgium and France after a few days away. My future father in law is in the military. Every year there is a service at Menin Gate in Ypres, Belgium to remember those who gave their lives in the first world war. I was invited along and we visited some of the many war memorials. It was a very moving experience.

As a result of this trip I've uploaded a new Gallery here: http://www.pbase.com/britishbeef/weekend_in_belgium__france

Please click on 'previous' to see my catch-up photographs from the past few days.

This is a photograph of just 'some' of the graves at Tyne Cot Cemetery, Belgium. It's the largest British war cemetery in the world.

I like that there is a living person included in this image. One person out, searching for a relative perhaps, among the thousands of dead. It adds wonderful perspective, and not just of the physical kind.

Geoff, this is a fantastic perspective of these markers. Very well done. Love the greens here.. life amongst the markers of death.
