29th April

Thank you so much Minolta Dimage 7Hi - you have taught me so much. But the time has come to move on.

Today is a very exciting day for me. I have just taken delivery of a new Canon EOS 10D. I have dreamed of this day for many months. I decided to stuff the expense and treat it as an investment! I have yet to read a word of the manual and took this shot to check that the camera works. So far so good. I had two existing lenses from my old EOS 300 (analogue-remember?). I have a Sigma 70-300mm which doesn't seem compatible. It takes some shots but often brings up error messages. I will have to send it off to Sigma for re-chipping. This leaves me with my cheapo stock lens from my old EOS 300 which works fine. I can't afford better lenses at the moment :( I can't wait to tuck into the manual and see what it can do! Bear with me while I learn - Images may not be as good from me for a while.

I will still use my Minolta especially now I've felt the weight of the 10D with a lens on! It won't always be practical.

I hope I can now improve my photography more and more.

I've got to go now, I'm too excited and want to go and play with my new toy. LOOK! It says 'Canon EOS 10D' underneath this text! I never thought I'd see the day...............must.......calm........down.......

It's allways the same story ..but i will still use my old camera.......hahaha.
Geoff, we all past there one day or another and some others will pass trough this sooner or later. On the end, all what remains is the new camera in the hand and the old one in a shot, just like on this picture. What would be a human without his dreams and his souvenirs.
This said, congratulations for the new camera.

Congratulations - welcome to the club - can't wait to see how you handle this beauty !

Congrats, you won't regret the investment. As far as Minolta, you could sell it and get another lense! But I would keep it, as it will be a good backup camera for 'incidental' and on-the-go phtography.
