Landscaping Work: Phase #4

We were promised an entire completion of our home foundation landscaping work by October 15, 2024. That was repeatedly pushed off for another 6 months and then another 6 months and so on by the landscape company we had signed a spring 2024 contract with. After the most recent promise of April 15th,2026 has come and gone - and nothing has yet to be touched - we are finally separating ways from that company. This may be a major problem because they still owe us fully paid-for plants that are missing both in the courtyard and along the driveway. That company also is refusing to honor warranty agreement on dead plants and/or on plant substitutions that we never authorized.

After 2 full years of being under contract with them, what a mess. I had to fire the first landscape designer from this company in November 2024 because she did nothing during all of 2024. When she was replaced by her boss (and the head of the division), he left me do most all the design work and some oof the plant sourcing for him. Then, he disappeared. I no longer know who is supposed to be running the company. Therefore, our next options are unclear. Following the recent warranty refusal by some administrator I've never dealt with before, this company is now ghosting us.

At least, we do still have the same clean slate for our new foundation beds that we had back in 2023. That hasn't changed. So maybe - if we can ever get all the problems with Company #1 properly handled - we will be able to move on to a new landscape company to finish the foundation landscaping. One can only hope. The Original Landscaper (hired Spring 2024) is technically gone as of April 2026. I had ended up doing 95% of the design work so far, because the pros couldn't. I now definitely know more about how to do a current Midwest landscaping job myself than before. Trial by fire... On to the next step.

Maybe now, things will finally move along in a timelier and more homeowner-oriented manner. One can only hope.
