Fish Dinner

Double extenders were an absolute necessity to get this shot. In life, the bare eye could just make out a dark lump (the Eagle)far away and high in some distant snags.

Although this shot doesn't have the sharpness of one taken at a closer distance (and/or without the harsh lighting combined with the shadowing), I'm amazed that it was even possible. Because of the extreme distance involved, I also needed to do a crop of the original to isolate the subject.

Nevertheless, while my mom - with the binoculars - kept saying, "I can't see what he's doing; he's too far away", I got the shot of this juvenile dining on pieces of freshly caught fish. I don't think that even my 85mm Zeiss scope with the Nikon could equal it. How I love my "Big Bertha" who - with a little help - can make the impossible possible.
