I spend about 20 minutes watching this guy in the woods before he felt enough at ease for me to take his photo without instantly fleeing. Pheasants are extremely wary. The photo was taken in deep shade with sunlight peaking through the trees; so it was difficult to get the exposure to uniformly bring out the colors of the bird. His head was a vivid blue green;however, it was shadowed. Because of the shyness of the subject, only natural lighting was used
