As of September 18, 2025, Kansas City remains in moderate drought conditions. These drought conditions follow an unusual wet Spring. However, the shift to dry conditions in late summer was abrupt. The lack of sustained rainfall through July and August quickly reversed the spring's moisture gains, leading to expanding drought classifications by early September. Today's 1/2 inch was the first rainfall we've seen in weeks.
