"A dramatic rescue unfolded in Kansas City on Monday when a woman was swept off the Indian Creek jogging trail by flash flooding and found herself clinging to a tree in fast-moving waters. Crews from the Kansas City Fire Department responded around 12:50 p.m. to the area near West 101st Terrace and Indian Creek.
Rescue teams used an inflatable boat to reach her, navigating through dangerous currents and debris. She had been holding on for nearly half an hour before being safely brought to shore, tired but uninjured. Battalion Chief Cj Stenner described the situation as “low-frequency, high-risk,” emphasizing how quickly floodwaters can become life-threatening.
It’s a powerful reminder of nature’s force—and the courage of first responders."
